Kangertech has had a great 10-year run as innovators that brought us some of the best clearomizers, the Pro Tank series, and then of course – the very first sub-ohm tank with replaceable coils and an RBA. I still have an original Kanger Subtank, and much of my early vaping gear wore the Kanger logo.
Recently, however, it seems that Kanger has struggled to remain relevant – certainly to me. Kanger contributed mightily to my early harm-reduction success, so it pains me to say that I haven’t even seriously looked at any recent Kanger products with much interest lately.
That changes today.
In a bold move that seems to be aimed at relevancy but some may say borders on lunacy, Kangertech has announced their new quintuple-cell, 222-watt Five6 mod and tank combo from their new AKD series (Advance Kanger Design).
Starting with the Five6 mod, we have an unprecedented 5-cell 18650 powerplant with full temperature control capability, top mounted OLED and controls, and aluminum alloy frame. Oh, need to charge your phone? The Five6 will oblige.
Moving on to the Five6 tank, it’s like I’m looking at a larger SMOK TFV8: Same aesthetics, same hinged top cap, same adjustable bottom airflow, with a larger 8ml capacity.
Where the Five6 stands apart is with its user-selectable coils. Each replaceable head contains three dual coils, and you can actually choose to run the tank with two, four, or all six coils – with the same coil head assembly. Oh, and did I mention that the tank glass darkens as the temperature rises? Yeah, it does that too.
The Five6 kit comes in an array of colors: black, red, yellow, green, and blue, and I was able to find it online for 60 bucks.
